Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Watch Keeper ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Watch Keeper mobile application ("App").
-
Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide
The App stores information you enter, such as watch schedules, crew names, trip details, and related settings.
b) Location Data
If you allow location access, the App may record discrete location fixes, accuracy, and heading data when you create a man overboard (MOB) mark and when WatchKeeper logs watch-on or watch-off position events. The App does not continuously track your location in the background.
c) Camera and Notification Permissions
If you allow camera access, the App may use the camera to scan QR schedule shares and to control the flashlight during active alarm escalation. If you allow notifications, the App may schedule local handover alarms and alerts on your device.
-
How We Use Information
We use information solely to:
- Provide and operate the App's functionality.
- Schedule and display local handover alarms and watch status.
- Support optional schedule sharing, shared-trip sync, and restart recovery.
- Record optional MOB marks and watch position events when you choose to use those features.
We do not use your data for advertising.
-
Data Storage
Watch schedules, crew data, alarms, acknowledgements, overrides, and related trip history are stored locally on your device. On iPhone, the App may also write an iCloud backup of the active trip to your personal iCloud account so the trip can be restored after reinstall or restart.
We do not store your personal data on our own servers.
-
Data Sharing
If you share a schedule by text or QR code, the exported share code contains trip setup information such as the trip name, start time, crew roster, and schedule overrides needed to import that schedule on another phone.
If you join a shared trip, trip updates may be synchronized through Apple's CloudKit services between participating devices. Those updates can include schedule overrides, acknowledgements, and watch position events needed to keep the shared trip consistent.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data.
We do not currently use third-party advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or performance monitoring services to collect your personal data.
-
Third-Party Services
The App relies on Apple services that you choose to enable, including iCloud backup, CloudKit shared-trip sync, Apple Watch connectivity, widgets, and Live Activities. Data handled by those Apple features is subject to Apple's privacy and security practices.
-
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
-
Your Control
You control your data. You may:
- Disable location services for the App through your device settings.
- Disable camera or notification permissions through your device settings.
- Stop sharing schedules by not exporting or importing share codes.
- End or leave shared trips to stop future shared-trip synchronization.
- Delete your data by removing the App and/or managing your iCloud storage.
-
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
-
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
